What Information We Collect and How It Is Used

InsideHeads is a full-service online market research company offering customized primary market research via the Internet to clients in various industries throughout the globe. It is InsideHeads’ policy to respect and protect the privacy of visitors to the InsideHeads website. Accordingly, InsideHeads DOES NOT extract without permission personal information about its visitors or their computer at any time while on the InsideHeads’ website or associated links.

InsideHeads collects personal information from people seeking to register in the InsideHeads Online Research Panel such as names, home addresses, e-mail addresses, age, etc. This information is only requested and obtained when a visitor voluntarily gives it to us in the process of registering with the InsideHeads
Online Research Panel. This information is used internally by InsideHeads research purposes only. InsideHeads will NOT sell, rent or give a visitor’s personal information to any third party unless InsideHeads asks for and receives the visitor’s permission at the time the personal information is collected. InsideHeads does share aggregate information collected from survey respondents with business partners and clients. This aggregate information is obtained and used to directly address research objectives of the clients of InsideHeads.

The types of personal information InsideHeads collects via online surveys and focus groups are:

1. The opinions of respondents about issues of interest to us or our clients. Opinions are always reported in aggregate only (e.g., 40% of respondents thought this-or-that.) This information will be shared with our clients without identifying the identity of the respondent or his/her parent or guardian.

2. Background information about the respondent. During the process of registering for the InsideHeads Online Research Panel, respondents are asked a number of questions about themselves, their child(ren) and their household. This information is used as background information so that we can target research studies we conduct and to better interpret research findings. Background information is reported in aggregate only (e.g., 30% of respondents have no children, etc.)

3. Limited personally identifiable information in order to communicate by mail, email or telephone with the panel member, send checks, gift certificates and other rewards, and in order to personalize communication sent to the panel member.

INSIDEHEADS DOES NOT COLLECT PERSONAL IDENTITY INFORMATION SUCH AS, DRIVER LICENSE, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER OR FINANCIAL DATA SUCH AS BANK ACCOUNTS, CREDIT CARDS.

InsideHeads may share information with a fulfillment (mailing) house in order to send gifts or prizes to InsideHeads panel members who participate in research studies, or to vendors or subcontractors engaged in data management/processing for InsideHeads. Any fulfillment house or other vendor managing an InsideHeads data project will agree to be bound by the privacy rules and restrictions contained in this notice.

InsideHeads will not disclose information collected from any respondents to third parties unless indicated otherwise or in special cases where InsideHeads has reason to believe that disclosure is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference (whether intentionally or unintentionally) with InsideHeads’ rights or property or anyone else who may be harmed by such actions or if required by law.

INSIDEHEADS’ PARENTAL CONSENT POLICY

Where InsideHeads’ information collection activities involve children, InsideHeads provides special privacy protections. InsideHeads is committed to protecting the online privacy of children. In accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), InsideHeads will not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of thirteen (13) without first obtaining parental consent.

Children under the age of thirteen (13) must have a parent or legal guardian complete and return (by mail or fax) a Parental Consent Form to InsideHeads: InsideHeads, 1401 McLean Mews Ct., McLean, VA 21010; email to: COPPA@insideheads.com or fax to: 877-464-3237. The consent form states that the child’s Parent or Legal Guardian by his or her signature, consents to the collection and transfer of the child’s personally identifiable information. Consent may be revoked by completing an InsideHeads Revocation of Parental Consent Form and sending it to the address or fax number above.

All communication with children under the age of 13 will be directed to the parent or guardian but noted as intended for the child (For example, survey invitations using the child’s first name are sent to the Parent for forwarding to their child). We will never share the personally identifiable information provided to us without first obtaining explicit permission from the parent or guardian to do so.

If a parent does not permit InsideHeads’ use or collection of personally identifiable information or has instructed InsideHeads to delete personally identifiable information, a child’s participation in those InsideHeads research activities for which the personally identifiable information has been requested may not be possible.

InsideHeads recommends that parents/guardians monitor and supervise the online activities of their children and to consider using available parental control tools which can prevent children from disclosing their name, address, and other personal information without parental permission. Visitors to the InsideHeads website who are under thirteen (13) years old should not be submitting any personal information like their name, address, e-mail address, phone number etc. without a parent’s or guardian’s permission.

Information provided to those websites will be subject to the privacy policy posted at that website.

SECURITY

The importance of security for all personally identifiable information associated with InsideHeads panel members is of utmost concern to us. InsideHeads exercises great care and implements a variety of technologies to make the InsideHeads website and panel database as secure as possible against unauthorized access and to protect the information visitors choose to provide to us. InsideHeads periodically reviews and updates these measures. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be one hundred percent (100%) secure. As a result, while InsideHeads strives to protect a visitor’s personal information, InsideHeads can not ensure or warrant the security of any information transmitted to us or from our online products or services, and a visitor does so at his/her own risk. InsideHeads does not currently collect credit card or payment information online.
