It is InsideHeads’ policy to respect and protect the privacy of visitors to the InsideHeads website. Accordingly, InsideHeads DOES NOT extract without permission personal information about its visitors or their computer at any time while on the InsideHeads’ website or associated links.

InsideHeads collects personally identifiable information (PII) from people seeking to register in the InsideHeads Online Research Panel such as names, home addresses, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, age, etc. This information is only requested and obtained when a visitor voluntarily submits the information in the process of registering with the InsideHeads Online Research Panel. This information is used internally by InsideHeads research purposes only. InsideHeads does NOT sell, rent or give user PII to any third party unless InsideHeads asks for and receives the visitor’s permission at the time the personal information is collected.

InsideHeads does share aggregate information with business partners and clients  collected from survey and screener respondents, excluding all PII. Aggregate information is reported to clients to directly address client research objectives.

The types of information InsideHeads collects via online surveys and focus groups are:

1. The opinions of respondents about issues of interest to us or our clients. Opinions are always reported in aggregate only (e.g., 40% of respondents thought this-or-that.) Reported information excludes participant PII,

2. PII voluntarily submitted by the respondent when registering for the secure InsideHeads Online Research Panel. During the process of registering for the InsideHeads Online Research Panel, respondents are asked a number of questions about themselves, their child(ren) and their household. This information is used as background information to identify prospective participants for research studies we conduct.

3. PII voluntarily submitted by the respondent when completing an InsideHeads online screening questionnaire for possibly selection in an online marketing research study.  This information is analyzed in conjunction with the study data collected to better interpret research findings.

4. Limited PII in order to communicate by mail, email or telephone with InsideHeads study participants. Study participants may be incentivized through mailed checks, gift certificates and other rewards, as required by the study.

5. Limited PII in order for InsideHeads to personalize communication sent to prospective recruits and participants in InsideHeads research studies.

When approved by the client, InsideHeads may share limited PII with a fulfillment service (e.g., Visa gift cards, Amazon credit, etc.) in order to send gifts or prizes to InsideHeads panel members who participate in research studies, or to vendors or subcontractors engaged in data management/processing for InsideHeads. Any fulfillment house or other vendor managing an InsideHeads data project will agree to be bound by the privacy rules and restrictions contained in this notice.

InsideHeads will not disclose information collected from any respondents to third parties unless indicated otherwise or in special cases where InsideHeads has reason to believe that disclosure is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference (whether intentionally or unintentionally) with InsideHeads’ rights or property or anyone else who may be harmed by such actions or if required by law.

INSIDEHEADS’ PARENTAL CONSENT POLICY

Where InsideHeads’ information collection activities involve children, InsideHeads provides special privacy protections. InsideHeads is committed to protecting the online privacy of children. In accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), InsideHeads will not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of thirteen (13) without first obtaining parental consent.

Children under the age of thirteen (13) must have a parent or legal guardian complete and return (by mail or fax) a Parental Consent Form to InsideHeads: InsideHeads, 12241 Johnson Bay, St. John. VI 00830; email to: info@insideheads.com or fax to: 877-464-3237. The consent form states that the child’s Parent or Legal Guardian by his or her signature, consents to the collection and transfer of the child’s PII. Consent may be revoked by completing an InsideHeads Revocation of Parental Consent Form and sending it to the address or fax number above.

All communication with children under the age of 13 will be directed to the parent or guardian but noted as intended for the child (For example, survey invitations using the child’s first name are sent to the Parent for forwarding to their child). We will never share PII  provided to us without first obtaining explicit permission from the parent or guardian to do so.

If a parent does not permit InsideHeads’ use or collection of PII or has instructed InsideHeads to delete PII before the study data is collected, the child will be ineligible for participation.

InsideHeads recommends that parents/guardians monitor and supervise the online activities of their children and to consider using available parental control tools which can prevent children from disclosing their name, address, and other personal information without parental permission. Visitors to the InsideHeads website who are under thirteen (13) years old should not be submitting any PII without a parent’s or guardian’s permission.

SECURITY

The importance of security for all PII associated with InsideHeads panel members is of utmost concern to us. InsideHeads exercises great care and implements a variety of technologies to make the InsideHeads website and panel database as secure as possible against unauthorized access and to protect the information visitors choose to provide to us.

InsideHeads uses standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between the platform server and a participant’s browser, ensuring data passed between the web server and visitor browsers remain private and integral. InsideHeads periodically reviews and updates these measures, though no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be one hundred percent secure. While InsideHeads strives to protect a respondent’s PII, visitors do so at their own risk. InsideHeads does not collect credit card or payment information online.
